Since its inception in 2018, GPAP has driven change for more than one billion people, mobilized $3.1 billion to address plastic pollution, and improved the livelihoods of 12,000 informal waste workers. ### Annual Report - 2023 This year’s annual report features a host of case studies that showcase the emerging outcomes from our work and reflects our practice of learning to further impact. We’re pleased to celebrate our collaborative efforts from the past year and provide insight into our direction of travel. With five years in operation and support from our strategic partners, GPAP is honing our approach to ensure our work is adaptive and garners ongoing progress for our community. ### Global Plastic Action Partnership 2023: aims to save the ocean 1 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into the ocean each year. By 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean — unless we take urgent, collective action.The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) is a multi-stakeholder platform dedicated to translating commitments to reduce plastic pollution and waste into concrete action. GPAP aims to shape a more sustainable and inclusive world through the eradication of plastic pollution. ### The National Plastic Action Partnership - Ghana It is currently estimated that Ghana generates around 0.84 million tonnes of municipal plastic waste each year – a total that is growing by 5.4% annually. In 2021 Ghana set up it's own National Plastic Action Partnership.Here's how through multi-stakeholder collaboration Ghana is addressing the issue through the National Plastic Action Partnership. ### Annual Report - 2022 Four years in operation, dozens of partners committed to a transformative shift in the circular economy and four new regions planning to develop local partnerships in the next year. More than 330 global and national organizations bridging sectors to forge a future free from plastic pollution. These are a few of the exciting data points that summarize GPAP’s progress so far. ### Ghana Partnership: The Secretariat Our secretariats convene and facilitate multi-stakeholder platforms to drive systems-wide and inclusive solution to the plastic pollution crisis. As we work towards a global treaty on plastic pollution, our Ghana Secretariat is at the forefront of this action. ### AM22 - What Do We Need For a Meaningful and Inclusive Treaty? With 175 governments endorsing a United Nations resolution for a legally binding treaty, the world is set for a landmark global agreement by 2024 to address the full life cycle of plastic products and tackle the plastic pollution crisis. What will it take to collectively craft a meaningful, timely and effective global treaty? ### Building Momentum Towards a Plastic Pollution Treaty Negotiations for a global treaty on plastic pollution are expected to kick off in February at UNEA. Momentum has been building over the past six years and more countries than ever are backing this process. The Global Plastic Action Partnership(GPAP)can play a key convening role in this context, building trust and coordination among stakeholders. ### The Reuse Portal The Reuse Portal is an open collaborative platform providing users – whether innovators, businesses, policymakers, activists, consumers or citizens – convenient access to practical guidance, tools and networks to take action and drive momentum for reuse solutions. ### Youthtopia Masterclass As part of GPAP's approach to promoting greater inclusivity, GPAP has collaborated with YOUTHTOPIA to create a Masterclass on ocean plastic pollution.
