Since our founding in late 2018, we have come to identify a critical knowledge gap globally in how gender equality and intersectional considerations can and must be mainstreamed across the plastics value chain (from material design to consumption to recycling and waste management), as well as being integrated into programmes and strategies to tackle plastic waste and plastic pollution.
To address this, we have developed this gender-responsive strategy to plastic pollution action articulated, in the hope that it will not only inform our work but also that of other stakeholders in the global plastics ecosystem.
