Executive Summary of the Ecuador National Action Roadmap [Spanish]

SDG Impacted

This executive summary of the Ecuador National Action Roadmap assesses the country's plastic ecosystem baseline and explores future scenarios up to 2040: a business-as-usual scenario where no action is taken, resulting in continued growth in plastic pollution, and a system-change scenario which envisions comprehensive and ambitious interventions across the entire plastics value chain. This scenario leverages synergies between upstream and downstream measures to enhance the circularity of Ecuador's plastic system and significantly reduce plastic pollution.

Developed with input from diverse stakeholders including government, industry, recyclers, academia, and civil society, the report offers actionable recommendations. Led by a team of experts, it was officially presented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in October 2023 and was launched on June 10, 2024.
